Problems We Are Addressing

Tympanic membrane, or eardrum, perforation was the #1 injury from the Boston Marathon Bombings

Perforations Pie Chart.PNG

There are 30M chronic TM perforations worldwide each year

Eardrum perforations are treated via tympanoplasty surgical procedures

Currently only 1/9 of patients proceed with tympanoplasty procedures due to cost and invasive nature of surgery

We interviewed 52 ENT surgeons in 8 countries

Here are the issues they have with tympanoplasty

Largest surgical pain points include manipulation and placement of graft material, surgical approach and instruments, and harvesting material

Most common reasons a patient would require a revision surgery are re-perforation of graft and poor hearing outcomes
